Most career advice comes from people who have never made the decisions they're coaching you to influence. I have made them — hundreds of them — and I've been on the receiving end of them too.
For more than thirty years, I worked inside some of the most demanding organisations in the world — McKinsey, Credit Suisse, Singtel. I led global teams. I sat on the hiring side, the promotion side, and the restructuring side of the table. I was in the rooms where roles are created, quietly reshaped, and dissolved — and where it's decided who moves up, who is moved sideways, and who is gently moved on.
That vantage point is the thing most coaching can't offer. I'm not guessing at what leadership is really evaluating when your name comes up. I watched those conversations happen from the inside for three decades. I know the difference between the reasons that get said out loud and the ones that actually decide it.
It's why my clients don't get generic encouragement. They get an honest read from someone who has sat where the decision-makers sit.
Knowing how the machine works doesn't make you immune to it. I once stayed in a role longer than I should have — everything running smoothly, my successor obvious, my team thriving without me. I mistook comfort for loyalty, and went looking for new complexity to keep feeling essential, when the honest truth was that I'd stopped growing and should have let someone else lead.
Later came a different lesson. Reorg followed reorg, each new leader arriving with the promise of a fresh start that never quite came. For a long time I waited — patiently, loyally — for the version of the organisation that was always just around the corner. Then the merger came, and with it the certainty of years more of the same. That was when I understood: I'd become the faithful steward of everyone else's beginning, while quietly postponing my own. So I moved.
I've also rebuilt my life across continents more than once — arriving somewhere new where my reputation didn't precede me, my network was gone, and I had to become someone all over again in a place that didn't yet know what I was worth. Anyone who has moved countries, cultures, or industries knows that particular vertigo: the gap between who you've been and who you're now being read as.
That is exactly the disorientation my clients describe when a career shifts under them. I don't just understand it analytically. I've stood in it. And I know that the way through isn't to shrink your ambition or start over — it's to see clearly, decide deliberately, and move as the person you've already become.
Somewhere in all those restructures, I noticed that the part of the work I loved most had stopped being the strategy and started being the people — the conversations where someone saw themselves differently and moved. So I followed that thread deliberately. Within a year I had trained, become ICF certified, and launched my own practice.
Bravo Darlings is the result: structured, senior-level recalibration for leaders at an inflection point. Not open-ended coaching. Not affirmations. A clear-eyed, peer-to-peer partnership with someone who has sat on both sides of the decisions you're facing — and come out the other side by choosing her own beginning rather than waiting to be handed one.
30+ years of international leadership across strategy, financial services and telecommunications — working with senior leaders across North America, Southeast Asia, and the UK/Europe.

Alongside my private practice, I coach within Women of the World (WOW), a community founded by Isa Buencamino. The group cohort runs throughout the year — a strategic pause for women who need space to take stock and reconnect with what they want next. The annual retreat is a separate experience: in person, against a spectacular tropical backdrop in El Nido, Philippines.
Both are distinct from my one-to-one work — and among the great joys of my year. If that's the season you're in, you can learn more about WOW here.
